Shore Birds

A walk along the shore from Craignure harbour towards Duart castle involved crossing the nesting territories of successive pairs of common sandpipers and rock pipits.

Bobbing like a dipper, the sandpiper would approach, shouting all the time, seemingly demanding that I take its photograph. Of course, I obliged.

The pipits made much less noise, and often stood there with a bill full of insects, waiting for us to move on.
